How to sharpen pencil without sharpener or knifeDo you need to sharpen your pencil but have no sharpener or knife close to you? And it gets too complicated when you need it right now to write. Ironically, it often occurs when writing a test or a lesson, where interrupting is out of place. Don’t be upset – that’s not an issue! Just read these tips which might save you from unpleasant circumstances.

Sharpening Without Sharpener or Knife

Lots of people are stressed during important events, but there would be a disaster if something got broken, especially the wooden pencil, and there is neither a sharpener, nor a knife. Don’t abandon hope so fast!

Any instruments or things which are available at arm’s length mustn’t be neglected and underestimated. Literally, lead needs just any surface which can trim it. Follow these tips to sharpen pencil without sharpener or knife.

Pencil Sharpening and Rough Surface

Roughness is a perfect condition for making your writing tool usable.

  1. Every girl has a nail file in her bag, which can serve as a grinder for a writing tool. Just move it back and forth to get the point as you need.
  2. Sandpaper has an abrasive surface, which also can grind down a wooden instrument to make it able to write.
  3. If you are outside and there is nothing you have in your hand except your pencil, just squat and move the pencil edges right and left on the surface of sidewalk.
  4. And if you are outside and there is a brick or rock beside you, that thing obviously could be another alternative of sharpener.

Before you proceed with one of the given methods, check out the best pencils that can be sharpened in any way you choose.

Just Use Something Really Sharp

Some victims of stationery breakage use sharp tools for sharpening, for instance:

  • Ruler. In fact, it can be utilized in two ways. The first way is to slide the wooden stick along the sharp edge of the ruler. The second way is to insert point of pencil into the hole of the ruler and twist it until you get reasonable angle.
  • Scissors can also be applied, just repeat the same moves as ruler requires but with scissors’ sharp edges. Another way of using them is to whittle the wooden barrel with one side of the scissors (it works the best when the edge is really sharp).
  • You can definitely find a screw in any desk or table, if it’s not screwed tightly, and use its notch to make your pencil workable.
  • The keyhole is one of those opportunities which is always in your pocket. Twisting the wooden stick will also solve your problem.
  • If there is a razor – the wooden barrel can be shaved easily, this will help lead get outside.

You can easily trim the wooden edges with nail clippers, thus the lead will be revealed.

This is not the complete list of sharp things which can be used for achieving a workable point, you can always find another alternative – these are just ideas of how to solve the issue promptly.

Smooth Surface Is a Good Idea

There are always lots of alternatives, even when it seems like nothing can help. Don’t forget about a regular piece of paper. Sliding lead from left to right will make the point to grind down, thus the point will get an acute angle. In addition, this method allows adjusting the grade of acuteness.

If You Don’t Have Anything…

Oh gosh, really?! Is the problem still unsolved? Teeth are a really good and universally helpful thing, but use them responsibly and don’t misapply them. Just bite a bit of the wooden case or push the wooden edge with your teeth.

If a shoe sole is quite rough, you can also use it to sharpen a pencil.

Always take an extra pencil, better yet take even more than one and keep a sharpener with you. The student next to you can also help you, and if you can’t ask with your voice, just put the broken tip in the air, and this will allow your classmate to see what’s happened to you.

In fact, the above-mentioned scenarios happen extremely rarely. Usually, users have sharpeners so they can avoid such cases. To spare yourself the trouble, you can purchase one of the good electric pencil sharpeners.

Summary of Article

Everyone can face the problem of a broken pencil, and even more, some people don’t have another one to replace it. It becomes a huge challenge especially when it happens at a very important event. WoWPencils would help you solve this problem with the tips mentioned above. And if you want to be sure, just remember to take replacements with you in order to avoid such a situation in the future.
